Safeway Sane Deals, 08/26 - 09/02

Not too much in this week's circular...

Safeway

Chicken leg quarters are .77/lb

Safeway is running their Buy 5, Save $5 cereal deal, which is always a great stock-up time. One of the easiest and best deals I see is on Kashi Multi-grain puff cereals:

(5) Kashi Multigrain Puff Cereals
Sub-total = $10
- $5 instant rebate
- (2) $1.50/2 Any Kashi cereal IP
= $2 for five boxes of cereal, or $0.40/each

Insert Tuesday- 13 January 2009

Well, I hope everyone took great advantage of the Super Coupons and great deals that came out last week after a drought over the holidays! I've been busy being sick, and moving (sometimes all at once), so I was remiss in not posting.

On to the deals in the inserts today!

Safeway

Boneless pork loin: 1.99/lb

Canned fruit is back to $1.00 after being taken off special over the holidays

Progresso soups are 2/$3, which is a good deal with the $1.10/one coupons here.

DiGiorno pizza is $3.99 (limit two) for the 48-hour sale Saturday and Sunday.

Cucumbers are 2/$1.00

Lucky

Bone-in chicken breast is 1.49/lb.

Sunny Select 5lb bag of macaroni is $3.79. (I'm finicky about my pasta, and don't usually buy store-brands, because the quality of the semolina flour just isn't there. I make exceptions, though, for pastas that I usually bake or make salads with. The nuances of the flour don't show through as much as when I make a simple pasta'sciutto.)

Great 72-hour sale this week!

Campbell's Chicken Noodle and Tomato soup are .48 each (I have a toddler, so these are staple foods in this house!)

Kraft Macaroni and Cheese is .48/ea.

Sunny Select canned vegetables are .48/ea. (They only picture green beans, but the text says "selected varieties". I would imagine this sale is on green beans, peas and corn, which seem to go on sale in tandem.)

Safeway Sane Deals 12/29 - 01/03

Happy New Year to everyone!

It's been a pretty slack holiday season. Seeing all the crowds in Safeway (even during my normal weekday morning shopping hours) makes it clear why Safeway hasn't been bending over backwards to get us in the store. Holidays = eating, after all, and they've been very busy.

No Safeway circular in the paper yesterday, so we'll have to wait for the big news on Sunday. Mommy Making Money has an advanced copy of the circular and promises big deals, so I'm planning on making my grocery run on Sunday! Here's hoping there's some good stocking-up prices, as my stockpile is pretty depleted after the last month of feeding frenzy!

One deal I'll be sure to pick up on Friday (via Money Saving Mom):

Wacky Mac pasta is on sale for 0.99 cents. Print out the .50/1 IP here to get 12 ounces of pasta for 0.49. There's a print limit of two, but as usual, if you have more than one computer, you could get more of these coupons.

Here's looking forward to a new year, and to the new Safeway circular on Sunday!

Shopping Trip 12/12/08

I had a pleasant shopping trip today to Safeway, which included all of the below PLUS two boxes of cereal that I put in the food bank donation bin on my way out of the store:

I spent a total of $22.02 for the above. I worked the two $5/5 breakfast deals I said I was going to do in my last post, and therefore got ten boxes of cereal for $5.75! Love that. Even the checkout lady marveled at the great IP coupons for the Frosted Mini Wheats!

They were out of the organic carrots when I went this morning, but I grabbed a bag of the organic apples which were 0.88/lb. My son loves applesauce, and I try to only buy organic apples, so this was a decent deal.

And, for whatever reason, zucchini was on sale for the summertime price of 10lb/$10.

Safeway Sane Deals 12/10 - 12/16

Wow, the inserts have been pretty boring lately.

One bright note is Safeway's $5/five item "Breakfast Event" is still going on.

There are a bunch of different cereals and breakfast items under the auspices of the event. I plan to do the following two scenarios this week:

(5) Frosted Mini-Wheats @ $2.49 = $12.45
- (5) $1/1 Mini-Wheats IP
- $5 instant rebate
= $2.45 for 5 boxes of cereal, or .49 cents per box

Also:

(1) Rice Krispies = $2.49
(2) All-Bran = $5.80
(2) Frosted Mini-Wheats = $4.99
Sub-total = $13.30
- (3) $1/1 Kellogg's coupon (11/09 RP)
- (2) $1/1 Mini-Wheats IP
= $3.30

That makes ten boxes of cereal for $5.80, which I think is pretty good!

Only other good deal I saw at Safeway was for the O Organics carrots, 1 lb/0.69.

Safeway Sane Deals 03-09 December 2008

The two new Safeway circulars out (Sunday's abbreviated one and today's) make for some interesting shopping.

Notably, the circular today has some Super Coupons:

* 10 lb bag of potatoes for $1.99 (Great deal on lots of potatoes. Remember to keep your onions FAR FAR away from your potatoes as the gasses mix and make them both rot. Stored correctly the potatoes keep for ages, so this could mean potatoes for weeks for your family!)

* 4 boxes Cheerios for $6. Paired with two of the $1/2 coupons from the Cheerios Challenge, this makes the boxes $1 each.

I plan to work one of my $5 off 5 deals as such:

3 Jif peanut butter $7.50
2 Rice Krispies cereals $5.98
Sub-total: $13.48
Use: (3) .35/1 Jif coupons from 11/09 RP Insert
Use: (2) $1/1 Kelloggs coupons from 11/09 RP Insert
After coupons: $10.43
Minus $5.00 IR
Total: 5.43

Other deals of note:

* Perrier bottles 10/$10. I plan to serve sparkling water at dinner for Christmas and for New Years, so this is a great stock-up price for me!

* Boneless, skinless chicken breast for $1.99/lb

* Pork chops for $1.99/lb

There's a tickling over on SlickDeals about a possible $10/$50 coupon in today's paper, so I'll have to wait until the hubby brings the paper home to find out! If it's there, I should have a great shopping trip tomorrow!
